Units of local government and the general public should be aware of the following changes concerning LGC staff involvement in competitive general obligation (GO) bond sales. Units are advised to contact their bond counsel to discuss these changes in further detail.
Effective Sept. 1, 2026, LGC staff will no longer perform certain tasks related to competitive GO bond transactions. These include:
- Drafting preliminary offering statements, offering statements and notices of sale
- Delivering applicable documents to I-Deal Prospectus
- Drafting, coordinating and collecting executed signature pages as part of closing documents
- Providing historical data for GO official statements
These tasks will instead be handled by other transaction participants, such as bond counsel, municipal advisors, disclosure counsel, debt managers, etc. This will allow LGC staff to reallocate time and resources to other aspects of the debt approval and sale process.
Once again, units are advised to discuss these changes with their bond counsel and make any necessary adjustments for the Sept. 1 effective date.
