In response to the state budget lawmakers will be voting on this week, Treasurer Brad Briner says he is pleased to see the commitment to state employees’ health and other department priorities.

“For the second year in a row, we asked lawmakers to make significant increases to the State Health Plan- which serves all of our teachers, state employees, retirees and their families.  And for the second year in a row, they have provided the increased funding,” said Treasurer Brad Briner. “If legislators had not made this additional investment, totaling nearly $4 billion, it could have meant increased premiums by as much as $38 per member per month.”

There are several other highlights for the Department of State Treasurer.  Briner went on to say, “Retirees are also top of mind for legislative leaders, with over $5 billion being directed to those who have served the state.  With $20 million in additional Cashflow Loan money included, my team is ready to get right to work dispersing the new round of Cashflow Loans immediately.  We also appreciate the overall efforts to cut through some of the red tape that slows down our efforts to serve the people of the State.”
